Character Creation
Character creation can be fun, but it can also be a bit of a time-sync, especially when running a shorter campaign or a one-shot. Even in longer games, players tend to spend a lot of time agonising over exactly what and what not to take. Worst of all, new players to the system won't understand all of the interactions and can be perpetually frightened of creating something suboptimal that they will have to endure for many sessions.
Becase of the fast moving nature of your Identities and Qualities in A Dirty Secret, Noirland has done away with traditional chracter creation and instead created a guided creation system to help you on your way. You answer twenty questions about your backstory and personality and your starting attributes, profession and a speciality chosen based on your answers. You're even given a few starting items to help you overcome the challenges ahead. All characters created this way have the same total amount of creation points spent - at a level that matches the sourcebook, apart from the addition of a free speciality.
All you need to do yourself is come up with the backstory and personality of your character, which should be a lot easier to do as you can be guided by the attributes that are presented. Easy as that.
